Inspiration for the Week #6 – Joël Dos Reis Viegas
Joël Dos Reis Viegas, who also goes by the alias Feerik, is the concept artist I’ve decided to feature this week. He has a strong background in animation and many years experience as a successful concept artist. According to his site, Joël has been involved in TV animation series as well as video games. He is a co-founder of STEAMBOT Studios , a collective of talented digital artists and team of friends based in Montreal, Canada. Their goal is to ‘push the boundaries of concept art always further’.
I find Joël’s graduation and background in animation leading him to become a well established concept artist really fascinating. As I am currently still at an early stage in my animation course, it can be quite difficult to imagine having the time to focus on a particular area. There is so much involved and to be learnt with animation. Joël proves that you can still become a master of what you enjoy most.
